Mass change Agent nodes to collect status from ping

In some environments, agent managed nodes can inaccurately display the status of a node. This is because, by default, agent managed nodes collect status from the Agent. Agents are not responding correctly. Agents are down and should be up. Change status and response time poller. Change from agent to icmp ping poller. Change snmp status and response to ping.

Overview

In some environments, agent managed nodes can inaccurately display the status of a node. This is because, by default, agent managed nodes collect status from the Agent. This can easily be changed to collect status via ping using list resources on the node details page.

Resolution

You can change the way Orion determines the status of agent nodes by following the steps below. 

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console and go to Settings > All Settings > Manage Pollers.
  2. Click "SolarWinds Native Poller" and then select the "Status and Response Time ICMP."
  3. Click "Assign" at the top.
  4. Select group by "polling method" in the drop-down and select "Agent" to display agent polled nodes.
  5. Select all agent nodes.
  6. Click Enable poller.

 

If some agents are experiencing connection problems, you might need to put your Agent in an Unmanaged mode in order to switch over the poller to ICMP.

 

All Agent nodes will collect status from ping rather than from the agent.
