Manual Deletion of Assemblies after Uninstall of Task Factory

Overview

Occasionally, Task Factory is uninstalled (Upgrading or Reinstalling usually) but some assembly may not be uninstalled. This can lead to problems later, when you attempt to run a package many different errors can be thrown.

Cause

The best way to resolve this is to uninstall Task Factory, then check each location where Task Factory is installed, to ensure all assemblies have been removed. Followed by a clean reinstall of Task Factory.

1. Close Visual Studio
2. Uninstall Task Factory via Control Panel
3. Check following directories for assemblies beginning with PragmaticWorks or PW. If they still exists, delete them

C:\Windows\assembly
- If an ‘Access Denied’ error message is encountered, you will need to follow these steps to change attributes of directory: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/cumgranosalis/2005/10/02/that-annoying-cwindowsassembly-folder/

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL

4. Check following directory for Task Factory folder. If exists, delete folder.

C:\Program Files(x86)\PragmaticWorks

5. Check following directories for assemblies beginning with PragmaticWorks or PW. If they still exists, delete them

C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\{version}\DTS
- \Connections
- \PipelineComponents
- \Tasks
- \UpgradeMappings

6. Repeat step 5, but for this directory

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\

7. Delete this directory

C:\ProgramData\PragmaticWorks

8. Run installer
9. Re-license software
