Cause

This can be caused by IP Addresses only monitored via ICMP.  This can also be caused if the IP Address does not have a scope associated and is not responding to SNMP Request.

Resolution

There are a number of options

  1. Monitor IP Addresses via SNMP [The target device must have SNMP Enabled]
  2. Neighbor Scanning [Scan neighbor layer 3 device for IP Address to MAC information] 
  3. Get the MAC information from DHCP
  4. Make sure it is responding to SNMP Request
