Log Manager for Orion Syslog Service is consuming more CPU than expected

Overview

SolarWinds Orion Log Manager Syslog Service, starting to use high CPU i.e the Syslog service was taking over 75% of CPU, previously it used only 30% or below and overall CPU utilization was around 70% for the system.

Cause

Log Manager for Orion Syslog And Trap logging was set to DEBUG level via Log adjuster.

Resolution

1. Reset logging level to default (WARN) via Orion Log Adjuster tool

2. Overall CPU utilization dropped from 95% to 70%

3. If Log Adjuster is set normally, you may check the LA server if it still has enough space to store more data.
