Overview

This article explains how to resolve the issue of being unable to add new nodes after applying HCO/OSH keys, which causes the network monitoring system to reach the maximum limit for ICMP-based devices or nodes.  After applying the HCO/OSH keys, the below error is observed.

Cause

This issue occurs when applying a new license and impacts all software versions.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in SolarWinds Platform 2026.1. Consider upgrading your environment.

 

To ensure the HCO license is fully applied:

  1. Disable HA if enabled
  2. Restart the Module Engine and SWIS services via the SolarWinds Services Manager. For steps, refer to How to Start, Stop, or Restart SolarWinds Services with the SolarWinds Service Manager in the SolarWinds Platform | Success Center | Salesforce
  3. Once the main polling engine has settled, restart the APE module engine.
  4. Re-enable HA if applicable
