Ports 43 and 443 are used by NetPath™ to query information about discovered IP addresses and networks. The WHOIS requests can be seen from the main Orion server and allow for monitored services to keep accurate results. SolarWinds worked with RIR to develop caching and several other optimization mechanisms for the volume of requests sent by NetPath.
