Kiwi Syslog shows Free or Evaluation version after upgrading to version 9.8.0 ,v9.8.1, or 9.8.3

Overview

Kiwi Syslog starting in version 9.8.1 utilizes the latest SolarWinds Licensing Framework to be used in conjunction with SolarWinds Logging for security. See the release notes below for additional information:

As a result of the above change, upgrading to Kiwi Syslog v9.8.0 results in the Kiwi Syslog license defaulting to an  Evaluation License that cannot be activated. The application then logs an error similar to the one below in the error log:

Cause

Licensing framework upgrade in Kiwi Syslog v9.8.0

Resolution

1) Log in to Kiwi Syslog server using a local administrator user account.
2) Stop the following services in Windows > services.msc:

- Kiwi Syslog Server service
- UltiDev Web Server service

3) Launch the Windows > CMD prompt as administrator.
4) Execute the following commands in Windows > CMD prompt:
 

-- Scripts are not supported under any SolarWinds support program or service.
-- Scripts are provided AS IS without warranty of any kind. SolarWinds further
-- disclaims all warranties including, without limitation, any implied warranties
-- of merchantability or of fitness for a particular purpose. The risk arising
-- out of the use or performance of the scripts and documentation stays with you.
-- In no event shall SolarWinds or anyone else involved in the creation,
-- production, or delivery of the scripts be liable for any damages whatsoever
-- (including, without limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business
-- interruption, loss of business information, or other pecuniary loss) arising
-- out of the use of or inability to use the scripts or documentation.

*NOTE:
Please keep in mind that the target installation directory of Kiwi Syslog application defined here is just the default.
Modify the commands if necessary if the target installation directory of Kiwi Syslog application is on a different drive.

5) After executing mentioned commands uninstall Kiwi Syslog application from the Control Panel > Programs and Features.
6) Install Kiwi Syslog version from the scratch.
7) Run Kiwi Syslog Service Manager and go to  Help > About to check the license.
8) If the problem is still persists, repeat steps 2 - 4.
9) Launch the Windows Registry "regedit".
10) Go to the system registry and remove all entities found on the Kiwi Syslog Server:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SolarWinds\Syslogd\Properties
SolarWinds.Licensing.KiwiSyslog.COMWrapper.dll

11) Reboot Kiwi Syslog Server.
