Kiwi Syslog Server NG – LDAPS / LDAP / Active Directory authentication support

Kiwi Syslog Server NG (including version 1.5) does not currently support authentication against LDAP/Active Directory or LDAPS. User authentication for the NG web interface is limited to locally defined Kiwi Syslog Server NG user accounts, so LDAPS-based user validation is not available at this time.

Overview

Support for directory-based authentication (AD/LDAP/LDAPS) is on the product roadmap, but there is no confirmed release date.

Product section

Kiwi Syslog Server

Cause

  • Kiwi Syslog Server NG currently supports:

    • Local user authentication only, configured directly within the product

  • Kiwi Syslog Server NG currently does not support:

    • Authentication against LDAP/Active Directory

    • LDAPS-based authentication for the web interface

    • Any directory-based single sign-on for NG users

The request for LDAPS/AD/LDAP authentication is therefore a feature request, not a defect.

Resolution

At this time:

  1. Kiwi Syslog Server NG 1.5 does not support LDAPS, LDAP, or Active Directory authentication for the NG web interface.

    • Only locally defined Kiwi Syslog Server NG user accounts are supported.

  2. LDAPS-based user validation is not available in this version.

  3. AD/LDAP-based authentication is on the roadmap, but:

    • There is no announced release date for this capability.

  4. If you require this feature, you should:

    • Continue to use local user accounts in Kiwi Syslog Server NG until directory-based authentication is introduced

    • Monitor the Kiwi Syslog Server NG Release Notes and roadmap communications for any future updates on LDAP/LDAPS support.
