Cause

This issue currently has an unknown cause but we expect it to be a Windows update that conflicts with KSS.

Resolution

Resolution 1:
  • Stop the Kiwi Syslog service.
  • Close the Kiwi Syslog Manager.
  • Rename mswinsck.ocx to mswinsck.ocx.old.
*Note: The location of the mswinsck.ocx file may vary. By default, it will be installed in either or both locations:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 on 64-bit OS
  • Reinstall the Kiwi Syslog Server application.
  • This will replace the mswinsck.ocx file with a slightly older version that was bundled.
  • Restart the Kiwi Syslog Server service.
Resolution 2:
  • Upgrade to the latest version of Kiwi Syslog. Please follow the steps on this KB:
