Issues downloading configs from Ericsson Mini-Link in NCM

This article resolves an issue when the download of configuration from Ericsson Mini-Link is failing, and shows the "connectivity issues discarding configuration (or configuration is too short)" error.

Overview

The download of configuration from Ericsson Mini-Link is failing and shows the "connectivity issues discarding configuration (or configuration is too short)" error.

The mentioned steps also worked with jobs that sends script to the device. Also for a different vendor.

Cause

The device does not echo the command to show running configuration, and instead, lists the configuration. NCM is still waiting for the echo even though whole configuration was shown, and doesn't save any lines from the session.

The message  "Waiting for the Current Command (sho run) to be Echoed" can be seen in session trace just before NCM disconnects from the device.
 

Resolution

  • Edit the device template you use for the Ericsson device
  • Add ${IgnoreEcho} to the show running command. For example, sho run${IgnoreEcho}
  • Save the edited device template
  • Run the back again on the Ericsson device and confirm that the config is now downloaded
