Is Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 needed by SolarWinds Platform?

Overview

For Log Analyzer version 2020.6 and above, Microsoft Access Database Engine is not required as part of the installation process. Also, LA versions 2020.6 and newer do not need Access Database Engine in order to function.

In previous installations of SolarWinds Platform 2020.2.6 and below, Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 was installed as part of SolarWinds Platform software.

For customers running SolarWinds Platform 2020.2.6 and above, Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 (or any other later versions) is no longer part of the installation process and is no longer required in order to function.

To avoid impact for existing environment, Microsoft Access Database Engine is not automatically removed during the upgrade process. It is important to review if any other application dependencies (besides SolarWinds Platform) prior to uninstalling Microsoft Access Database Engine for the existing environment.
