Intelligent Maps not available in NOC view, maps not rotating in the SolarWinds Platform
Multiple Intelligent Maps created under My Dashboards > Maps are not displayed as a resource on NOC tabs. Network Atlas maps display as expected. A NOC view that shows only one map does not rotate between maps.

Overview
In SolarWinds Platform 2025.4 and later, Orion Maps are branded as Intelligent Maps and are exposed in classic dashboards / NOC views through the Intelligent Map resource.
If the wrong resource is added, or the NOC view is not configured correctly, maps will not appear or rotate as expected.

Cause
One or more of the following configuration issues:
-
Wrong resource selected on the NOC tab
-
In Customize Page → Add Resource, the user adds All Maps or Network Atlas Map (legacy) instead of Intelligent Map.
-
Result: only old Network Atlas/sample maps are available; new Intelligent Maps do not show.
-
-
Search term mismatch
-
In 2025.4, the resource is labeled Intelligent Map, not “Orion Map”.
-
Searching for “Orion” in the Add Resource dialog returns no results, leading the user to believe map resources are missing.
-
-
NOC view/tab layout
-
NOC views rotate through the left-hand tabs. If there is only one tab, or if tabs do not contain a map resource, the NOC view will not rotate between maps.
-
If a tab layout has multiple columns or extra resources, the map can appear as a small box instead of filling most of the tab.
-
-
Map theme vs NOC theme
-
If Light/Dark palette and label colors are not aligned with the NOC view theme, maps can look black or labels may be unreadable (for example, white text on a light background).
-
Resolution
1. Confirm and prepare maps
-
Go to My Dashboards > Maps.
-
Open each map you want on the NOC screen and ensure:
-
It is saved with a clear name (for example:
NOC – Branch,NOC – DR,NOC – Internet).
-
-
In each map:
-
Choose Light or Dark Color Palette to match your NOC view theme.
-
Adjust label text color and background so labels are clearly readable
(for example, white text on black background for a dark map).
-
2. Configure NOC tabs (one tab per map)
Important: NOC views rotate through the left-hand tabs. Each tab is effectively one slide.
-
Open your NOC view.
-
Ensure you have one tab per map you want to rotate through (for example: Branch, DR, Internet).
-
For each tab:
-
Click the tab (for example Branch).
-
Click Customize Page.
-
Set the layout to 1 column.
-
Remove any non-map resources on that tab.
-
Click Add Resource.
-
In the search box, type
Map(notOrion). -
From the results, select Intelligent Map (not Network Atlas Map).
-
In the Intelligent Map resource settings, choose the specific map you created under My Dashboards > Maps for that tab.
-
Click Done Customizing.
-
Repeat for all NOC tabs so each tab has a single Intelligent Map resource pointing to the correct map.
3. Enable NOC mode and optimize for “full-screen”
-
Make sure NOC View mode is enabled on that view (Settings / NOC settings).
-
On each tab:
-
Use a 1-column layout and keep only the Intelligent Map resource on the tab so the map fills most of the space.
-
-
On the NOC display:
-
Open the NOC view URL in a browser.
-
Use browser full-screen (F11 in Windows, Ctrl+Cmd+F in macOS) for the closest possible full-screen map experience.
-
-
Confirm:
-
The NOC view is now rotating through the left-hand tabs, and
-
Each tab shows the appropriate Intelligent Map with readable labels.
