This article details a resolution to the following error received when trying to install an additional poller on a clean VM:

Installation process failed for the primary Orion server. An error occurred when verifying security for the message

Cause

  • This is likely the result of a wrong time zone on one of the pollers

Resolution

  1. Verify that the date, time, and time zones match on the database server, main polling engine, and additional polling engine.
  2. Reboot the servers that required a change in time zone settings.
  3. If using a domain account, use a local Orion account instead. Go to the Web console > Settings > All Settings > Polling Engines > Download installer. Right click properties on installer > unblock and Rerun the installer as admin
