Resolution

NOTE:
Before making any changes, please make sure you have a recent backup of the database, a snapshot of the VM, or a restore point of the physical server.
Work with your DBA for any database-related concerns.

1.From the affected polling engine, go to the Control Panel.

2. Make sure that there are no remnants of any SolarWinds files.

3. Install the Observability.OrionInstaller.msi file. By default, this is in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers, or you can use the msi file from the Subinstallers folder from the Offline Installer. NOTE: Make sure that you are installing the same version.

4. You might get an error when running the Observability.OrionInstaller.msi file.

Invalid Observability Configuration value, Set INSTALLTYPE on the command line to one of the following:  'FULL', 'POLLER', 'FREE', or 'WEB CONSOLE'.

5. If you see this error, go to the registry path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SolarWinds\Orion\Core.

6. Add a binary string with the following: Configuration = POLLER.

7. Once the SolarWinds Platform has been installed, you will need to uninstall it via the Command Prompt or use the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall .diagcab file.

8. Reboot the server after uninstalling.

9. Once the server comes back up, start re-installing SolarWinds, and it will now complete with no errors.
