Increase Events Retention in NPM

This article provides information on how to increase the data retention for events in order to get data for historical reports (ex: Nodes Down for the past 12 months).

Overview

This article provides information on how to increase the data retention for events in order to get data for historical reports (ex: Nodes Down for the past 12 months). This can also be used to obtain a longer history of user Audit Event actions. Event data is stored for 30 days by default.

Resolution

Log in to the Orion Web Console with an account with Admin privileges.
Click Settings > Thresholds & Polling > Polling Settings.
Look under Database Settings.
You can then change the Event Retention to the required value (ex: 365 days).

NOTE: Please note increasing this setting increases the size of your database. This can cause performance issues so please monitor carefully.
