ICMP shows Node Unknown

How to resolve the issue when a node appears unknown when adding external IP address ICMP only.

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when a node appears unknown when adding external IP address ICMP only. This happens even if you are able to ping from the Orion Server.

Cause

ICMP connection needed to be reset.

 

Resolution

  1. Go to Settings > Manage Nodes.
  2. Select the node that shows an unknown status, and click List Resources. 
  3. Under Status & Response Time, select ICMP and click Submit. If ICMP was previously selected, mark SNMP and then click Submit.
  4. Go back to List Resources, select ICMP, and click Submit.
  5. Go to Settings > Manage Nodes, select the node that was edited, and click Submit.
If it does not work.
  • Remove and Re-add the node.
NOTE : No historical data will be lost since they are just monitored Via ICMP.
