How to use the Proxy functionality within the Dameware Mini Remote Control program

The Dameware Mini Remote Proxy is another feature of Dameware Mini Remote Control (DMRC) that forwards the remote connection request to the proxy and then to the remote computer. This is different from the Dameware Internet Proxy, which is over an Internet session.

• The connection to the proxy machine is performed via a direct TCP connection
• The proxy machine receives the connection and then forwards the connection request to the destination machine
• After the intended remote machine has received the connection request from the Proxy Host, the desktop of the destination machine will be displayed in the DMRC window

Advantages of the new proxy design:

• Allows the use of a single TCP port in the remote firewall to access multiple machines on the remote network, rather than having to open a different TCP port on the remote firewall for each machine that needs to be remotely controlled
• Allows the user to run the DMRC Client Agent Service on the same TCP port for all machines on the remote network, rather than having each machine run the DMRC Client Agent Service on different TCP ports

Dameware Remote Support & Mini Remote Control

Set up the Dameware Mini Remote Proxy

1. Download the installer from the Customer Portal.
2. Choose the installer name Agent installer for Proxy service.
3. Run the installer on your designated Proxy machine.
4. At the end of the installation, you can assign a port for the proxy. The default port is 6127.

 

To connect to a remote machine via a Proxy

1. Open the Dameware Mini Remote Control.
2. Enter the remote computer name or IP, and then set your credentials.
3. Select the option, Connect via Proxy host, set the Proxy server and port.
