Overview

This article describes how to test Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) connectivity from the Patch Manager server to a client machine using Microsoft WMI Tester (WBEMTEST). This utility is included with the Microsoft Windows Server operating system.

WBEMTEST is Microsoft utility, not a Patch Manager utility. Click here for details about using the utility.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Patch Manager server.
  2. Open a Run box and execute:

    wbemtest.exe

    The Windows Management Instrumentation Tester window displays.

  3. Click Connect.
  4. In the Namespace field, enter:

    \\remoteComputer\root\default

    where remoteComputer is the remote computer's name.

  5. In the Credentials box, enter the credentials for the account specified in the error.
  6. Click Connect.
