How to register the ARM clients

In ARM 2024.3 and later, the communication security has been enhanced, and each ARM client must be registered using an Init-Code.

To register the ARM client, follow the steps below:
 

• After opening the ARM client, click on 'Register App' as shown below.
  
• The following screen will show up. Please enter the FQDN of the ARM Server instead of the localhost.
  
• The Code you need to generate using the Web client under Connection security as shown below. Copy and paste the code generated where it is required.
  

To register multiple ARM clients without the manual steps described above, follow the steps below.

• You can copy and paste the client-cert with the ARM Server name in the beginning from C:\ProgramData\protected-networks.com\8MAN\cfg\security\server of the ARM Server and place it in %username%\AppData\Local\SolarWinds_Worldwide,_LLC\ARM\client-certificates on the client machine.
• Ideally, you can do this with a logon script, for example, after a user logs in to the RDS/PC or opens the ARM client application.
• You may also need to create the client-certificates folder under %username%\AppData\Local\SolarWinds_Worldwide,_LLC\ARM folder.
• After placing the ARM Server's client certificate on the client machine, you need to close and then re-open the Access Rights Manager app.
• Another thing to consider is allowing at least read rights on the .pfx file that you are distributing to the user logging in to the client machine and who will use the ARM app.
• When you use the init-code, the permissions on the certificate file are managed automatically.
