How to re-install the Kiwi Syslog application
This article describes the steps to re-install the Kiwi Syslog and Kiwi Web Access application.

Overview
Then after the OS upgrade or applying Windows patches, you can re-install the Kiwi Syslog application back.
This is to avoid any unforeseen issues that might affect Kiwi Syslog application caused by Windows updates or Windows OS upgrades.

Resolution
- Login to your Kiwi Syslog Server using a local administrator account.
- Open the Kiwi Syslog Service Manager as "administrator".
- Click File > Export Settings to INI file.
- Save the Syslog Server Settings.ini somewhere safe.
- Backup the following folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Web Access\html\App_Data
- Do full server/VM snapshot of the Kiwi Syslog server if applicable.
B) Deactivate your current Kiwi Syslog License:
- Login to your Kiwi Syslog Server using a local administrator account.
- Go to your Kiwi Syslog install directory. Default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Syslogd.
- Find the LicenseManager.exe and run it as "administrator".
- Deactivate your Kiwi Syslog License.
C) Download the same version of Kiwi Syslog installer from your Customer Portal:
- Open browser and go to https://customerportal.solarwinds.com.
- Login using your Solarwinds Customer Account UserID and Password.
- Navigate to Licenses > Manage Licenses.
- Scroll down and look for your Solarwinds Product License entry and click on "Choose Download" button right beside it.
- Under Product Downloads > Server Downloads > select the appropriate version of Product you want to download.
- Click on "Download" button.
- Stop the Kiwi Syslog Service and Ultidev Web Server service from Windows > services.msc.
- Go to Windows > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Right+click and uninstall the Kiwi Syslog Server.
- Right+click and uninstall the Kiwi Syslog Web Access.
- Right+click the Kiwi Syslog installer then select "Properties".
- Click "Unblock" if available.
- Right+click the Kiwi Syslog installer again then run the installer as "administrator".
- Make sure you install Kiwi Syslog as a "Service" and also install the Kiwi Web Access.
- Import Kiwi syslog Settings:
-locate the INI file from backup location.
2. Restore Syslog Messages from backup C:\Program Files (x86)\Syslogd\Logs
*NOTE: if logs are located some place else, configure your Kiwi Syslog application to point to that location (Kiwi Syslog Service Manager > File > Rules > Actions > Log to file > Path and file name
of log file.
3. Restore Syslogs from Web Access (*.sdf files): C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Web Access\html\App_Data
G) Steps to re-activate the Kiwi Syslog License:
- Open browser and go to https://customerportal.solarwinds.com.
- Login using your Solarwinds Customer Account UserID and Password.
- Navigate to Licenses > Manage Licenses.
- Scroll down and look for your Kiwi Syslog product and expand it.
- Copy the activation key.
- Open the Kiwi Syslog Service Manager console from the server.
- Go to Help > Enter License details.
- Paste the activation key to activate the Kiwi Syslog application.
