Overview

After migrating from Papertrail, a port-based log filter may not appear under the global log filters view. The filter remains associated with its specific destination and must be edited from that destination’s configuration page.

Product section

Papertrail

Cause

The migrated filter is destination-scoped rather than a global filter.

Resolution

  1. In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Destinations in the left navigation.
  2. Open the migrated port-based destination.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Scroll to the Filter section and click Edit Filter.
  5. Edit the enabled REGEX rule and replace it with:

    "GET /api[^"]*" (200|304)[ ]

The [ ] at the end represents exactly one space after (200|304).

  6. Save the filter, then save the destination.

This workflow was confirmed by the customer as successful.

Additional Notes

Port-based destinations are associated with migrated Papertrail Logs-only environments and may not be available in full-stack tenants.
