Overview

When you need to disable Windows Authentication, due to a continuous username /password challenge, or for any other reason, follow the steps below.

Cause

There are several known causes for re-enabled Windows Authentication:

Running the Solarwinds Configuration Wizard.
Applying a Windows Update and rebooting the machine.

Resolution

Launch Internet Information Services Manager.
1. Hit the 'Windows' key or click on the 'Windows Start' button
2. Type:
```
inetmgr
```
Under Sites, select the SolarWinds site
Under SolarWinds NetPerfMon Home, select Authentication.

Select Windows Authentication
Right-click and select Disable.

Open a command prompt and run as administrator.
Execute:
```
iisreset
```
