How to disable Node Polling in SAM without disabling Application Polling

Overview

In some cases, a client may wish to discontinue monitoring a Node and its resources but continue to monitor the Applications assigned to the Node. This article explains how to do this easily.

Resolution

Change the Polling Method of the Node from SNMP/WMI to ICMP.
Click Apply.
Change the Polling Method of the Node to External Node.
Click Apply.

Notes:

Any Application Components that require SNMP will no longer work.
Any Application Components that require Windows Authentication must be assigned a Credential and must not be configured to "Inherit credential from Node".
