This article discusses how to create a new database for the log viewer in Configuration Wizard.

Cause

If you would like to create a new database for the log viewer in the events the log viewer will not display logs or Syslogs for devices.

Resolution

Close all open applications and stop all services before you run the Configuration wizard. (Please note: all data will be lost when creating a new database)

When running the Configuration wizard on an Additional Polling Engine or an Additional Web Server, some steps might be skipped.

1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Server as a Windows Local Administrator.

2. Start the Configuration wizard found under Start > SolarWinds Platform > Configuration Wizard

3. On the 3rd screen of the configuration wizard after the credentials page. You will be asked to select an existing database or create a new database.

4. Select create a new database, then click next.

5. Follow the steps on each page in the configuration wizard until you get prompted to finish.

6. Restart services.
