Overview

This article will explain where to find and how to use the netconfig command to adjust the IP address or other network settings in the SEM.

It is important to configure the SEM network settings to match your environment when initially configuring the SEM. It can also be helpful to change the IP address of the SEM if you are performing a migration.

Resolution

To get to the netconfig command, you'll need to be in the Appliance submenu of the CMC console. This can be accessed using an SSH tool like PUTTY, or by accessing the SEM via your Hypervisor.
Log in to the SEM CMC command line interface

Change IP Address:

When at this menu, you can run the netconfig command to adjust the following settings.
(cmc > appliance > netconfig)
  • DHCP/Static IP Assignment
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Gateway
  • Network Domain
  • DNS Servers
You'll need to set it to Static to manually assign your new IP address. You can then fill in the rest of the details to match your network. When you have finished entering DNS servers, just hit enter to complete the prompt. After completing the DNS server setup, it will immediately change over to using the new network address. You'll need to connect in again if you were using SSH to change the address.

Change the Hostname:
  • Login to SSH via CMC (cmc > appliance > hostname)
  • Then follow the instructions
Note:
Changing these settings will affect the connection of both Non-Agent Devices and Agent Devices
