Resolution

Please note that the agent settings can be changed in bulk from the Admin Area only for the DRE agent.

IMPORTANT: For Dameware Remote Everywhere macOS agents, it's impossible to bulk change the settings in a centralized way. It needs to be done per agent and directly on the agent's configurations.

By directly accessing the remote device:

Windows OS

1. Access the remote device.
2. DRE Agent Configuration window

  • It is located in the systray, but you can also use the search option to find it by the name "Dameware Remote Everywhere Agent Configuration"

3. Press the Advanced Setup button (cogwheel icon).

  • Should it be grayed out, press the Enter Administration Mode button on the top right corner to enable Admin Mode.
  • You'll need Administrative Privileges to proceed, so a pop-up window will appear informing about this.

4. Select Security/Settings.
5. Apply the intended changes.

macOS

1. Access the remote device.
2. Restore/Load the Dameware Remote Everywhere Agent Configuration window.

  • On the top right corner (macOS Menu Bar), right-click the Dameware Remote Everywhere Agent status icon and select Restore

3. Click the SECURITY/SETTINGS button.

  • If the padlock symbol on the top right corner of the window is locked, click on it to Enter Administration Mode (or else the SECURITY and SETTINGS buttons won't be visible);

4. Click APPLY to ensure the changes are assimilated.

From the Admin Area:

Note: This option is only available for Windows OS and Dameware Remote Everywhere.

1. Log in to the Admin Area.
2. Navigate to the Devices menu.
3. Select the intended device(s) from your device list
4. Click More > Apply Configuration.
5. On the Target Devices section select Apply to selected or Apply to groups as intended.
6. Choose the desired actions on each setting according to the standard symbol meanings.

  • - = Do not change (Leave as is)
  • <blank> = Uncheck (Disable)
  • ✓ = Checked (Enable)

7. Click Apply to deploy changes.

  • Usually, it takes up to 1 or 2 minutes to propagate these changes but this can vary according to device specification as well as the local and remote network environments in place
  • You can manually restart the DRE agent service if you want to apply right away

Create a Pre-configured Template to Device Group using  Agent Configuration Templates

Agent Configuration templates are a quick way to pre-configure the Agent file sent to customers for unattended support access to their devices. Manage Agent settings across all your unattended devices to ensure all devices in your account are safe and secure.

Create different templates for the various types of devices you support, and easily deploy those templates to different device groups, ensuring the settings are consistent across all of your customer's devices.

Keep your Agent Templates secure by locking the settings and preventing unwanted end-user changes to the Agent. Locking your settings is a great way to enforce and prevent unwanted security changes.

  1. Login to the DRE Web Admin Page: https://admin.swi-dre.com
  2. Go to Management > Agent Template
  3. Click Add
  4. Enter a name for the new Agent Configuration Template and select the Settings options to apply to the Agent Template:
  5. To use this created template, go to Devices.
  6. Edit a Device Group.
  7. Select the Template to use.
    • DRE Load from existing agent template.png
  8. Save Settings.

***This Agent Template is only applicable to Device Group and not on ROOT and "All Device".
To use a template, please add the device to a specific Device Group.***
