How to Edit Connection Profile on NCM

The article covers the behavior for nodes being added to the SolarWinds Platform and the NCM Connection Profile needs to be entered/Edited.

Overview

Nodes are not automatically added to NCM when added to the SolarWinds Platform. Once added, we need to enter a working NCM Connection Profile. Usually, the credentials to use when logging in to the device.

Cause

Nodes may not show on Configuration Management or any pages on NCM
Nodes are getting Connection Refused

Resolution

NOTE: Keyboard Authentication might be needed if specified on Session Traces similar to the message below:

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as NCM Admin.
  2. Click on Manage Node and Search for the Node.
  3. Click Edit to load the Edit Node Page.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and make sure YES is selected on "Manage Node on NCM".
  5. Enter the correct credentials on the Connection Profile.
  6. Set Execute Scripts Using:" Request Transfer Scripts Using:"  and "Transfer Scripts Using:"  to SSH Auto.
  7. Test Connection to see if successful.

To edit existing connection profiles:

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.
  2. Navigate to Settings > All Settings > NCM Settings > Connection Profiles.
  3. Check the box for the profile to adjust, and click Edit.
  4. Set the values as needed, and Submit the change.
