How to add NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) Local NetFlow Source after deletion on the main poller engine (MPE)

This article provides step-by-step instructions how to add NTA Local NetFlow Source Interface after the node was deleted.

Overview

By default, the NTA Local NetFlow Source will be automatically created only on the main polling engine (MPE). The reasons for the NTA Local NetFlow Source is to allow the NTA product to work (on the MPE) without any configuration needed. This will provide data from the local network interfaces destined for the main poller.

If the node was deleted, then the Local NetFlow Source would be deleted as well. When the administrator re-add the node back, the Local NetFlow Source will not be automatically created. To add the Local NetFlow Source, please perform the following steps:

Important! Always perform a full backup of the SolarWinds database before making any changes.

Ensure the following conditions are met:

Local NetFlow Source will only be created on the main poller exists. This cannot be created on additional polling engine (APEs) or Additional Web Server (AWS).
Agent must be installed on the main poller
DNS name or one of his IP addresses needs to match with current values for the main poller

If the above conditions are met, perform the following steps:

Open the Database Manager application and select Add Orion Server.
From the left pane, find EngineProperties
Right-click and select Query table
Click Execute query
Click Enable table editing
From the Results tab, find the PropertyName for
- Nta.ProbeInterfaceID.[EngineID]
- Nta.ProbeNetflowSourceInstalled.[EngineID]

For each Nta.Probe entry, right-click and select Delete the selected cell(s)
Both Nta.ProbeInterfaceID.[EngineID] and Nta.ProbeNetflowSourceInstalled.[EngineID] should be removed.
Open SolarWinds Platform Service Manager
Select SolarWinds NetFlow Service
Click Restart

Once the services are restarted, the Local NetFlow Source interface will appear on the MPE.
