How to Monitor an SSL Certificate and Create an Alert in SAM When There Are X Days Before Expiration

Monitor SSL certificate expiration date of a node 

  1. Assign the SSL Certificate Expiration Date template to a specific node to create an application monitor. To get started, click Settings > All Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates.
  2. Configure the warning and critical statistic threshold of the component on the days left for the SSL certificate to expire.

Example

The configuration below is set with warning and critical statistic threshold to 60 and 30, respectively. The application will go into warning status if the SSL expiration reaches less than 60 days, and switches to critical at the 30-day mark.

  1. Select the 'Alert me when an application goes into warning or critical state' option under Settings > All Settings > Manage Alerts.
  2. Click Duplicate & Edit.
  3. Configure the rest of the alert as needed except for the actual trigger condition below. For Application Name, use SSL Certificate Expiration Date.
