How to Import 3rd party SSL certificate for Syslogs settings on LA

Overview

In this article, Configure secure syslog settings for Log Analyzer, by default we use a self-signed certificate that is created by SolarWinds as its default SSL certificate when using the secure Syslogs settings on LA. If you wish to change it due to security reasons, it can be done as well via the Web Console.

Resolution

  1. Import the certificate on the Solarwinds server and add it to the Trusted Root CA and Personal Folder (Make sure to use computer account on local machine)
  2. Open the Web Console and go to the Advanced Configuration page with the following URL: http://hostname/orion/admin/advancedconfiguration/global.aspx
  3. On the global tab, search for "SecureforwardingTLSClientCertificateName" and "TLSservercertificateName"
  4. Add the certificate name and make sure it matches the name of the certificate imported.
  5. Click on Submit.
  6. Restart the services that display after submitting the change.
