How to Clean Kiwi Syslog Server NG (KSS NG) Dashboard and Events Logs

Overview

The Events displayed in the Dashboard are limited by the display buffer. If the buffer file is not reset, old events will continue to appear. Cleaning the Dashboard and Events allows Kiwi NG to start fresh and only show new logs.

Cause

The events displayed are stored in the DisplayBuffer.json file, located in the installation directory of Kiwi Syslog Server NG.

Resolution

To clean the Dashboard and Events logs, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the KSS NG service.
    1. Open Services.msc.
    2. Locate Kiwi Syslog Server NG.
    3. Right-click → Stop.
  2. Navigate to the installation folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Server NG.
  3. Delete the DisplayBuffer.json file.
  4. Restart the KSS NG service.
    1. Open Services.msc again.
    2. Locate Kiwi Syslog Server NG.
    3. Right-click → Start

After restarting, the Dashboard and Events tabs will be cleaned, and only new incoming logs will be displayed.
