Overview
The Orion Platform uses either ICMP(default) or SNMP to poll devices for status, average response time, and packet loss percentage. This article will explain why it takes 5 minutes before the node changes its status to down.

Resolution
By default, the Orion Platform polls for node status information every 120 seconds (2 minutes). If a poll time out due to no response, Orion sets the node to Warning status, and 'fast polling' occurs once every 10 seconds for the next two minutes. If there's still no response during 'fast polling,' Orion sets the node to a Down status.
