High memory consumed by the SolarWinds Platform server

This article provides brief information and steps to address an issue where the SolarWinds Platform server is consuming very high amounts of memory, even after 20 GB of memory is added. When you check the performance, you can see that the SolarWinds Platform is only using 3 - 4 GB of memory and the rest of the memory is being taken by the operating system itself. This article describes the issue when you add 20 Gig of memory and still notice the SolarWinds server consuming a lot of memory.

Cause

When you check the SolarWinds Platform processes in the Task Manager, you can see that the SolarWinds Platform is taking up 3 - 4 GB of memory. The rest of memory is being used by the operating system.

Resolution

Use a memory leak diagnostics tool to verify the root cause or contact your system admin for further troubleshooting.

In a few cases simply rebooting the polling engine resolves the issue.
