Server Application Monitor

Cause

A large volume of devices monitored using WMI fail to authenticate or respond. This is common in environments where workstations are monitored that are shut down during non-business hours.

Resolution

Perform the following procedures:
  1. Unmanage devices that routinely go offline. See Scheduling Unmanage Task for Nodes, Interfaces and Applications for details on using the Unmanage Scheduling Utility to unmanage these devices.
  2. Monitor your unmanaged devices using SNMP instead of WMI. When you change the polling method from WMI to SNMP, some historical data will be lost for devices where the change was made.
