Overview

This article discusses how to hide/unhide a managed database in the All Databases widget that is part of AppInsight for SQL in SAM.

Note: The steps on hiding the said databases do not unmanage the database. They hide the database from appearing in the All Databases widget, but the Orion Platform will continue alerting on the database. To prevent a database from triggering alerts, unmanage the database on the Database Details page's Management widget instead.

Resolution

Note: Make sure a database is managed before trying to hide/unhide it in the All Databases widget. To check, navigate to the Management widget on the Database Details page.

Step 1:

  1. Log into the Orion Web Console.
  2. Navigate to the AppInsight for SQL Details page for your SQL instance.
  3. In the URL of the browser, the last few digits refer to the applicationID.

Example: http://Solarwinds/Orion/APM/SqlBlack...NetObject=ABSA:168

  1. Take note of this applicationID. You'll use it in the next set of steps.

Step 2

  1. Log into the Orion server.
  2. Open Database Manager
  3. Click Add Default Server
  4. Expand the Orion Database
  5. Locate the table 'APM_SqlBbDatabase'
  6. Run the following query:
SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[APM_SqlBbDatabase] where applicationId = 168

  1. Update the ApplicationID to match your Application ID you recorded during Step 1.
  2. Click "Enable table editing" above the Query text box.
    • To hide managed Databases: Clear the check box in the Visible column to hide the database from the All databases widget on the AppInsight for SQL Details page. Repeat as necessary for other databases you want to hide.
    • To unhide managed Databases: Tick the check box in the Visible column to show the database from the All databases widget on the AppInsight for SQL Details page.
  3. Click 'Enable table editing' again to finish the editing session.
