"You cannot run this application with your current license" when using Engineer's Toolset Desktop (ETS Desktop) Launchpad

You mayget this error when running the ETS Desktop Toolset Launchpad, but when checking the Customer Portal, the license key is registered under the same machine.



The license reset procedure in this article can also be done for other Toolset License or installation errors shown below.

This (or a later) version of SolarWinds Toolset is already installed on this machine. The setup application cannot continue.

The ETS Desktop Toolset License keystore is corrupted and needs to be reset. You will be able to prove this if you get an error while running the License Manager, with the window showing no entries for the licensed Solarwinds Application and asking you to contact the Technical Support.

If you have other Solarwinds Applications running on the actual machine such as Orion based applications that utilize the Web License Manager, please deactivate all these first before running the tool below.
1. Run the License Reset Tool as admin on the machine where ET is installed on.

Password is burn/purify, hit Reset. Then launch License Manager again, you should now be able to see the complete list of applications.
2. Login to Solarwinds Customer Portal to check if the Desktop Toolset you intend to use is unassigned, if not please ask CS to reset or use the Manual Deactivation if the keys are merged.
 3. Reactivate Desktop Toolset and relaunch to verify.

 If the license is already showing correctly in License Manager but the error still shows. Please run the installer again and choose the Repair option.

You also need Administrator access on the system where ETS for the Desktop is installed to launch the ETS for the Desktop launchpad.
