Generate NTM Diagnostic

The NTM Diagnostic tool helps identify reporting issues within the environment.
Depending on the nature of the issue, we may require a copy of the map and an SNMPwalk—particularly for cases involving missing devices or devices that appear on the map but show no connections.

1. Open the Map. Enter the password if asked
2. Click HELP on the menu
3. Under Support Tools, click Create Tech Diagnostic File
   • 
   • Do not forget to ask for the Map Password, as you need to access the map for further investigation
4. Click Start on the Diagnostic Window

5. Select where to save the Diagnostic File output. The default desktop of the user running the NTM application.

6. If no map or SNMP walk is requested for the case investigation, click Cancel on the Attach Map File window to start the Diagnostic Collection.

• • This is optional, and depending on the Tech Support request and the Issue Raised, if a copy of Map is requested:
    • On the Attach Map Window, select Browse and select the Map that is under investigation:

    • The default location of saved maps is: C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Network Topology Mapper\UserMaps, but if the environment has its own map location, browse the maps on that location.
    • If an SNMP walk for a certain device is requested, you can also include it in the Diagnostic File:

How to Generate an SNMP Walk File:

Option 1: From NTM User Interface

This should open the SNMPwalk Windows.

Option 2: From the SNMPwalk tool:

1. Go to the NTM installation path and open SnmpWalk.exe.
   • Default is : C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Network Topology Mapper\SnmpWalk\SnmpWalk.exe
2. Input the IP of the device and the SNMP credential, you can use either version 1, 2 or 3.
3. Save the SNMPwalk file created.
