Exclude NCM from the SolarWinds Platform Network Discovery

How to import a discovered node to NPM without getting an error about the limitation of NCM. Remove NCM from Auto Discovery.

Overview

Exclude NCM when you run a Network Discovery for NPM. This allows you to import a discovered node to NPM without getting an error about the limitation of NCM.

Cause

During Discovery there is an error regarding License exceeded even if the license is ALX and Unlimited to NPM.

Resolution

Resolution 1:

You will need to remove auto detection of Credentials

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > NCM Settings > Manage Connection Profiles
    In NPM 12.X and above, go to All Settings > NCM Settings > Connection Profiles
  2. Click Edit and set use for auto detect to No. (Untick the box Automatically test this profile against monitored nodes that allowed it.)

Resolution 2:

  1.  Go to All settings > NCM Settings
  2.  Click on Advanced settings
  3.  Make sure that the checkbox for "Skip adding nodes to NCM during discovery" is checked
