Error when updating a computer using Patch Manager
This article describes how to troubleshoot an error when installing Microsoft® Windows® updates on a system using Patch Manager.

Overview
When you update a computer using Patch Manager, an Operational Details dialog box displays with the following message:
Operation: Download
Object: Update for Outlook Social Connector (KB2289116), 32-Bit Edition
Status: Failed
Details: Download failed. Winhttp SendRequest/ReceiveResponse failed with 0x2ee7 error. Either the proxy server or target server name can not be resolved.
Corresponding to ERROR_WINHTTP_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. Stop/Restart service or reboot the machine if you see this error frequently. Error Code: 0x8024402C

Repair the Microsoft Windows Update Agent (WUA) on the targeted system.
- Log in to the Patch Manager Admin Console as an administrator.
- In the navigation pane, navigate to the workstation that needs to be repaired.
- Select the workstation, and then select Windows Update Agent Maintenance and Repair in the Actions pane.
The Windows Update Agent Maintenance and Repair dialog box displays. - Under Repair Options, select the options displayed below.
- Under Maintenance select:
(Re)install the Windows Update Agent or install Windows Update Agent Update
Review the note before you continue.
- Click OK to continue.
- In the Task Schedule window, enable the task to run immediately or at a later date.
- Complete any remaining fields, and click OK.
- After the update runs at the scheduled time, maximize Administration and Reporting and select Task History.
- Verify that the update completed successfully.
