Patch Manager

Cause

This issue can be caused by:

  • Endpoint protection blocking read/write to the file
  • File/Folder permissions
  • Remote profile permissions issue for the logging in AD user
  • Invalid characters being passed to the WSUS API including white space.
  • Lack of disk space on the Patch manager or WSUS server
  • Incorrect settings for administrative shares for WSUS Content folder

Resolution

Verify that you can publish other similar packages. In some cases, when you publish another package, you may receive a different error related to the cause--for example, a drive out of space.

To verify that the permissions and settings for the WSUS Content stores are correct, follow the procedure in CreateDirectory Failed error when publishing updates to WSUS. Verify that the WSUS server and the drive where the specific WSUS Content folders are located are not out of space.
