Error in SAM when creating an Oracle component "ERROR OracleProbe - Failed to detect ORACLE HOME directory"

Error in monitoring an Oracle database and getting an error on detecting the Oracle home directory.

Overview

When creating Oracle Database Monitoring from Server and Application Manager, the component is getting the below error:

"Failed to detect ORACLE HOME Directory"

Cause

ORACLE_HOME environment is not visible by the agent

 

Resolution

1. Login to the OracleDB node.

2. Run the below command to edit the agent service settings:

sudo systemctl edit --full  swiagentd.service

3. In the [Service] section add the below line:

Environment="ORACLE_HOME=path/to/oracle/home"

4. Reload systemd with the below command:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload

5. Restart the agent service:

sudo systemctl restart swiagentd.service

6. Re-add the component in the SolarWinds Web Console.
