Overview

Unexpected SQL Error in the Web Console regarding the SolarWinds SQL database not being available. The following error message is received:

Verify that the Orion SQL Server account has access to the Orion database. Examine the specific details of the error for environmental hints to help resolve your issue. If still unresolved, use the Configuration Wizard to verify your SQL configuration settings. On this server, click Configuration Wizard within the SolarWinds Orion > Configuration & Auto-Discovery Start menu group. Check Database and then click Next. Review and correct database settings to correct this error. Refresh the web console browser.

Cause

  • This is because the Orion Database is in Recovery mode.
  • Microsoft optional updates
  • SQL Account credentials used for the Orion database has limited access or was changed

Resolution

Resolution 1

Run configuration wizard on the Main Orion server and check the SQL credentials used if the wizard accepts it or not. 
If the SQL credentials used are incorrect or was changed, Contact the DBA or Microsoft to resolve the issue. Once the database problem is resolved, restart the Orion Services.

 

Resolution 2

Remove the most recent OPTIONAL Windows updates on the 2012 server.
