Overview

When a domain or system administrator in Serv-U tries to create a user through a remote management console and get this error "Error: The file or folder you're trying to access is not available to you". This is the issue you might get because the home directory path is not accessible from the user machine where he accesses the management console. Please refer to the resolution below.

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

Cause

By design, the permission of a user relies on the home directory configured in Serv-U, so if an admin specifies a different directory when creating a user, Serv-U will check the permission against the administrator profile.

Resolution

  1. Open Serv-U management console.
  2. Go to User.
  3. Select the administrator account then open properties.
  4. Uncheck "Lock user in home directory".
