Resolution

Access to SEM reports is completely restricted by default. In order to run reports in the SEM reports application for the first time, complete one of the procedures below to specify what computers you want to allow to access your SEM database. These procedures add the computers on which you want to run reports to the list of allowed computers on your SEM manager, or remove all SEM reports restrictions.

To configure your SEM manager to allow specific computers to run SEM reports:

  1. Log in to your SEM virtual appliance using either the vSphere Console view, or an SSH client such as PuTTY.
  2. At the cmc> prompt, enter service.
  3. At the cmc::scm# prompt, enter restrictreports.
  4. When prompted, press Enter.
  5. Enter the IP addresses of the computers you want to allow to run SEM reports, separated by spaces.
Note: Your entry will override any previous entries, so ensure the list you provide is complete.
  6. To confirm your entry, enter y.
  7. To return to the cmc> prompt, enter exit.
  8. To log out of your SEM virtual appliance, enter exit.

To remove all SEM Reports restrictions:

  1. Log in to your SEM virtual appliance using either the vSphere Console view, or an SSH client such as PuTTY.
  2. At the cmc> prompt, enter service.
  3. At the cmc::scm# prompt, enter unrestrictreports.
  4. When prompted, press Enter.
Note: Unrestricting SEM Reports will make the SEM database accessible on any computer on your network running SEM Reports.
  5. To return to the cmc> prompt, enter exit.
  6.  To log out of your SEM virtual appliance, enter exit.
