Overview

Serv-U runs under the Local System account by default and because the Local System account has no network privileges, it prevents Serv-U from accessing home directories located in UNC paths and generates the Home directory does not exist error. Also, the error would appear if the actual directory path does not exist.

Product section

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

Cause

  • Serv-U service account does not have permission to access the home directory
  • The home directory path does not exist

Resolution

1. To resolve this issue, see Configure Serv-U and FTP Voyager Scheduler to access network files or folders

2. Use local home directory.

3. Another possible cause is Windows and LDAP authentication is running at the same time. Please make sure that only one method is active to prevent this issue.

4. Make sure that the actual directory path does exist on the location. You can verify it by going to the home directory path from the Serv-U server.
