Error: A network error occurred while retrieving data from the server when connecting to the remote computer using Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) console

This article shows how to resolve the issue when connecting to a remote computer via the DRE console.

Overview

The DRE console error below appears when connecting to the remote computers. It usually happens when a technician's console is the old version (ex. 7.00.18).

"A network error occurred while retrieving data from the server. Please check your internet connection and try again"

Cause

A very old DRE console that is no longer supported.
Connection to the DRE server gateway hosts and ports were blocked

Resolution

Upgrade the DRE console to the latest version available and it can be downloaded from the DRE admin are
Make sure that there is no blocking to the DRE ports and servers, see Ports and Domains/Firewall and AV Exclusions in DRE
