In Serv-U by default, it periodically checking for updates by means of reading information from served request to http://www.serv-u.com/currentversion.asp

Resolution

1. Right-Click on Serv-U icon in Windows Tray
2. Select About Serv-U Tray...
3. Select Update Check
4. Uncheck "Automatically check for software updates"
