Enable Windows Authentication using NTLMv2 in DPA

Certain Microsoft domain configurations require authentication with the domain controller to use NTLMv2. By default, DPA authenticates with the Domain Controller using NTLM when using Windows authentication.   

If your Domain Controller requires NTLMv2 you may receive the following error when you attempt to connect to a SQL Server instance using Windows authentication:

Login failed for user ''.  The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

You might also see this error if the user credentials are incorrect, so you should first verify if the user name and password are correct before you attempt the following solution.

If you are getting this error on repository creation to a SQL server repository:

1. Run the Repository Creation Wizard.
2. On the Enter Repository Connection Information panel, click Advanced Connection Properties.
3. In the JDBC URL Properties field, enter useNTLMv2=true.

If you need to use NTLMv2 for the connections from DPA to a monitored instance: 

1. Log in to DPA as an admin. 
2. Navigate to Options. 
3. In the Monitor Setup section, click Update Connection.
4. Select the instance from the list in the radio buttons and click Next. 
5. Click the check box to allow edit next to JDBC URL Properties. 
6. Add useNTLMv2=true.
   
7. Click Next.
