Enable SSL support for Kiwi Web Access

This article details enabling SSL support for Kiwi Web Access. The example uses Self signed Test Certificate to enable SSL.

Cause

 enable SSL support for Kiwi Web Access.

Resolution

Note: The following steps are beyond the Kiwi Syslog Server application and only configures web access through SSL.

 

  1. Open UltiDev Web App Explorer.
  2. Click Ecosystem to create SSL certificate.
  3. Click on ‘Create New Certificate’.
  4. Click Create self-signed test certificate.
  5. Choose/text the name of SSL identity.
  6. Click ‘OK’ after view the created certificate details.
  7. Created certificate will be listed.
  8. Click to register new site or application with Web Server.UltiDev
  9. Select the option ‘ASP.NET web Application’ and proceed.
  10. For KSS versions 9.6.7 and earlier, select the option ‘ASP.NET 2.0,3.0 or 3.5’. 
     
  11. For KSS versions 9.7 and later, select the option 'ASP.NET 4.0 (Full)'.                     
  12. Select the second option to load ‘native 32 bit components’ and then click Next.
  13. Select ‘LOCAL SYSTEM’ and and then click Next.
  14. Browse for default document.
  15. Select Gateway.aspx file from \\SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Web Access\html in installed location.
  16. Change the application name to ‘Syslogd’.
  17. Remove the virtual directory default entry and leave it blank.
  18. (OPTIONAL) Remove the existing HTTP Listen Address for Kiwi Web Access. For better security, we recommend to use only https. Otherwise, user can login with both HTTP and HTTPS.
  19. Add HTPS/SSL Listen Address.
  20. Select the created certificate.
  21. Choose the port by ‘Find Free Port’ option or enter your own port and proceed.
  22. Select the option ‘Anonymous’.
  23. Click Finish.
  24. Created host will be listed in the left side panel.
  25. This can be verified by browsing.
  26. Your host will be accessed using https.
