Overview

This article applies to Log Analyzer, formerly Log Manager for Orion.
When the Orion Platform observes multiple nodes sending messages with the same IP address, the messages may be discarded. In this case, a notification message appears in the Orion Web Console prompting you to take appropriate action.

Cause

When the source IP address of the syslog or trap message matches more than one Orion Platform node (either matching the Orion Platform polling IP or secondary IP), LA may not be able to determine to which node to map the message. In this instance, the message may be discarded.

Resolution

For devices with conflicting IP addresses:

  1. Reassign the Orion Platform nodes to different polling engines.
  2. Reconfigure each device to send syslog and trap messages to the polling engine the node is currently assigned to.
